Barbados

For such a small island Barbados is very popular. Laid back and lively at the same time it has a great atmosphere. The beaches on this island are fantastic with the west coast lapped by the warm Caribbean and the east has the beauty of the rolling Atlantic waves.

With its colonial rule Barbados has a very British feel and from the red post boxes to the nation’s love of cricket it is like a home from home with the exception of the weather of course. The west coast is home to the native green turtles and this coast is lined with lively villages, great hotels and a fantastic coral reef. The south coast is another great stretch of sand and St Lawrence gap is a great place to chill out to the reggae sounds. Wherever you stay on this island it is easy to get around, nowhere is very far and there are great transport systems for getting around.

The capital Bridgetown is a great place to visit for shopping and sightseeing and hiring a car is worth it as the roads are very safe and they drive on the left! Excursions available include a ride on a submarine, beach parties and even a trip to the grenadines!! The climate of Barbados is similar to much of the rest of the Caribbean with excellent temperatures year round. The summer is when rainfall is at its highest although rain tends not to last for long.
